Thanksgiving

I don't have many pictures from Thanksgiving. Things were crazy!

My sister, the kids and I left Wednesday just after lunch to Daphne for Thanksgiving. The trip usually takes around 6 hours but because of all the holiday traffic it took over 8 hours. We were more than ready to get there.

On Thursday morning we woke up and had a Thanksgiving breakfast. Not everyone could make it that morning so the ones who could had a wonderful start to Thanksgiving day. That evening we went to have Thanksgiving supper at a friend of the family's house. She helped us when PawPaw was in the hospital and her dad was in at the same time and passed away the day after our PawPaw did. They are absolutely the nicest people I have ever met. They opened up their home to us and we had such an amazing time.

The best part of the trip was Black Friday! The Outlet mall in Foley opened at midnight. So Melanie, Lindsey and I went down there to shop for what we thought would be a couple of hours. We left the house at 11pm and got home at...8am!!!!! We were crazy by the time we got home. Laughing like silly girls at everything. We were able to lay down for 1 hour before everyone woke up. I think that made me feel worse. But we don't regret it at all. We got some great deals and had a really good time!

That night we had Taylor Thanksgiving. My dad cooked the turkey and Aunt Jerri and MawMaw made everything else. It was WONDERFUL! It was so good to be with everyone. Jenna and Bella became best buds over the weekend.

Melanie bought Jenna and Bella matching Christmas dresses. We had a little photo shoot. Aren't they gorgeous?

And I bought my kids their Christmas outfits and we had another photo shoot. It is so hard to get them to both smile at the same time! But we got some good ones.

I have to say that the holidays are going to be very hard for me this year. Thanksgiving was a hard day for Matt and I but I think Christmas will be even worse. We are trying to keep our heads up and think about this time next year. We will all be back together again! We miss you Matt!

I love tickets!

Some friends of ours gave us 3 tickets to the UT game on Saturday.

I am a Bama fan all the way but I couldn't turn down free tickets and a night out with no kids!!

So my sister, my best friend Ashley, and I made the trip up to Knoxville to watch the UT vs Vanderbilt game. We finally found a good(well what we thought we be good) place to park and then walked to Chili's to eat before the game.
We made it to the game just in time to see the kickoff. I was trying so hard not to cheer for Tennessee but when there are 100,123 other people there yelling and screaming, its so hard to not get caught up in all the excitement. So I cheered...a little. At half time they had a tribute to the military. It was so moving for me. Never in my life have I been more aware of the cost of freedom in this country.
We decided to leave with 1:24 left the 4th quarter and while we were walking down the ramp, TN made another touchdown. So the final score was 31-16 TN. We had a great time and had great seats and it was cold! I think we laughed more at the people around us more than we watched the game. I so needed that!!

We thought we got a great parking spot. In a parking garage and only $10. But we ended up waiting an hour inside the garage because of traffic!! So we learned our lesson about parking!!

The best part of the night for me was crawling in my bed at 1:30am and not waking up until 10:30am. Thanks Nan for keeping the kids!

Carson's Head CT

Carson had a head CT done today. His upper lip on the right side has always puffed up when he is sick or tired. I remember when he was just a couple weeks old seeing it but when I looked the next morning I thought maybe I was just crazy. Matt thought I was crazy too. But the older he got, the more I noticed it late at night. I mentioned this to his doctor and we decided to keep watching it. (I will try to find a picture that shows his lip swollen.)

Carson went for his 6 month well check this week and I told the doctor it was getting worse and worse. I now notice it during the day often and just wanted the him to know that it was happening. After a few minutes, the doctor decided we needed to check it out just to make sure nothing was going on that we were missing. So he scheduled a head CT at T.C. Thompson. I have to say I wasn't nervous about the test at all. The doctor told me he didn't think anything was wrong but would rather be safe. The most stressful part was that he couldn't eat for 4 hours before the test. That's hard for a 6 month old. So I woke him up at 5:30am and fed him. Then Pam, Carson and I went down to the hospital for his appointment at 9:45am. I thought he would cry a lot because he was hungry but he was an angel!!! They did one scan and then gave him a little IV and injected dye and then did another scan. The only time he cried was when they stuck him for the IV. I was able to stand right there with him and feed him his bottle while they were doing the scan. Then we got to go! It was easy. A lot better than I had worked up in my head! (I left my camera in the waiting room and so I only got this picture with my cell phone)

I got a call at about 4:30 this afternoon with the results. I was happy to hear that everything is completely normal on the scan. So I assume that the whole lip thing is kind of like a lazy eye. It doesn't seem to cause Carson any pain. I am anxious to talk to the doctor about what he thinks. But it's a relief to know that nothing is wrong. The funny part is we went through all that to find out that he has another ear infection! Looks like he is following in his sister's footsteps with the ear infections....

Sick Kids

I hate it when my kids are sick. And both of them have been this week. You know those times when you finally find something that distracts them, no matter what it is, you just let them do it to get a little peace?

Volley for the Cure

My mom spoke at the Volley for the Cure luncheon on Thursday afternoon. It was a group of breast cancer survivors and their guests. My grandmother, Lindsey and I joined my mom. The volleyball players served us and the lunch was fabulous. Kim Chapman was there from News Channel 9. (which my husband loves by the way...i put a pic on here just for you matt!) There was some singing and a prayer and then my mom spoke. She did a wonderful job and she looked great!!

Then on Friday night we went to the Volley for the Cure game.
Mom was the Honorary Coach. She sat on the bench in her pink shirt and pink hat. They won! Way to go Coach Mom!
We all had a really good time. Here we all are in pink! (Cameron took a picture of all of us but I don't have it yet)

Halloween! Halloween! Trick or Treat!

Jenna was an Alabama cheerleader and Carson was a Cow this year for Halloween. We went to the mall to see their cousins and then went Trick or Treating with some friends and Lindsey and Brett. We had a good night. My kids did so good the whole time. Jenna was the cutest thing. Every house we went to she would say, "Trick or Treat. Thank you. Going to the next house!" And every once in a while we would get a "ROLL TIDE!" out of her. She had a great time and loves the candy she got. Happy Halloween everyone! :)

Here's Carson during the day on Halloween.

My little cheerleader. My dad taught her to say Rah! Rah! Ree!
